All you need is Love




Finished...... at last!  

Phew - as a commercial venture this is surely one big flop, simply due to the time it's taken to do all the hand-stitching.  I must have spent at least 10 hours working on this one little pillow, so I can't see myself putting it in my Folksy shop anytime soon.  I'm rather pleased with it though, even if I don't know what I'm going to do with it now!


I've done another little piece of reverse applique on the back, behind a small oval panel of wool.  This time a heart to go with the theme, and I've finished off the bottom of the envelope flap with a little row of cross stitch kisses.  After so much time hand-sewing, it was a matter of moments to whizz around the outside with the sewing machine to finish it.

The only place I can think suitable for it would be on the bed, and it certainly doesn't go with any of my bedding.  Oh no.....  does this mean I now have to make a quilt to match? 

Sobs quietly.

    Gorgeous pillow Jan. Loving the reverse applique. May have to bite the bullet and give it ago myself.

    Yep, think you need a quilt to match. Maybe black & white with touches of red. I'm loving that combo at the moment. :)

    Sometimes it's just nice to do things for the sheer hell of it, this one is definitely one to keep.

    It's truly gorgeous and definitely one to keep. maybe use it as a prototype and design something similar but quicker to make for sale.

    You'll enjoy making the new quilt ;-)

    Lovely cushin Jan. I think to make it comercially you would have to do it on the machine. Does your machine have a stitch that looks a bit like blanket stitch? Mine does, so if you used a machine embroidery thread you could get a similar effect. Not quite as good but still nice.

Autumn Giveaway Time

Hexagon hand-towel

A super quick make this afternoon - a hand towel for the kitchen.  I had no idea I was going to do this until I was rummaging through my fabric stash and found this piece of heavy linen that has been forgotten for years.   It's the perfect weight for a hand towel and I've managed to use up a few more scraps to match the colours of my kitchen. The little piece of aqua fabric is one of my favourites.  Had it for years and my supply has been dwindling, finally down to the last little piece.   It was a quick pin-down and run along with the machine. As you can see, a close inspection of my hexagon shows rather uneven stitches.   I blame it on my eyesight (and sewing whilst watching the TV).  Pinned into place and then edged around carefully with the machine.   I've even managed to add a little loop which is the tiniest scrap of ribbon I spied in the corner of my sewing table just as I was stitching to the corner.... I'll have that...

Valentine Kisses
