Phoebe's "Colla-flower"

This morning I have been mostly messing about with some scraps of fabric, and I've made another cute little flower to attach to Phoebe's collar - Simple to make and all sewn by hand - I've used a scrap of fabric taken from a little girl's summer dress for the petals (car boot 50p find).  The centre of the flower is a self-cover button in the same fabric.  The flower is backed with a circle of wool felt stitched securely, and then a little piece of velcro has been added so that it will wrap around Phoebe's collar and hold firmly in place. It looks really pretty, and I only wish my "model" would stay still and pose for a photo.  No hope!  I have managed to catch her sleeping though.  It's such a simple way to give a boring (pink - of course!) collar a bit of bling! Not that Phoebe gives a hoot about her flower, but she certainly has no idea it's there and it doesn't bother her in the slightest.  When we were out yesterday she was we...

Bow Wow Wow

Gosh - I didn't realise how long it's been between blog posts.  Doesn't time fly when you're piddling about doing nothing?  All I seem to want to do at the moment is sleep. When I'm awake, all I can think about is going back to bed.  I've even fallen asleep on the sofa a couple of times, which isn't like me at all.  Wouldn't mind so much if I looked better for it....... so much for beauty sleep! In between my slumbering, I have at least managed to make something in the last week.  I've been doodling away in threads to make this cute piece of art.  I started off by sketching a dog outline in pencil onto slubby cotton, and then working it in back stitch using a black Perle 12 thread.  I've added a bit of interest using running stitch, and filled in the eyes with a satin stitch. Once I'd finished the dog itself, I was at a bit of a loss what to do next.  I decided to add a little colour using three threads which complimented each other...

Silent Sunday

Banned from Tesco's!

Earlier today I was at my local Tesco buying a large bag of Purina dog food for my loyal pet and was at the checkout when the woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think I had, a bloody elephant?   So... since I was in a sarcy mood, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again. I added that I probably shouldn't because I ended up in hospital last time, but that I'd lost 2 stone before I woke up in intensive care with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IV's in both arms. I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that everyone in the queue was now enthralled by my story) Horrified, she asked me if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me...

Vintage English Rose

A Cajame Original. (as modelled by Phoebe) Using two layers of vintage 100% wool Harris tweed, this darling little dog-coat has been decorated with pretty roses fussy-cut from (what was in a previous life) a pair of ancient curtains.  The roses have been layered and machine-appliqued.  With a frilly collar, the coat has been edged with a pale-pink rik-rak trim.  Fastening with velcro for easy wear (I know how hard it can be to grab hold of a squirming ready-to-go-out excited little dog), and trimmed with buttons... this is a unique designer coat for the fashion-conscious mutt-about-town. This coat was made to size for my little angel, and she adores wearing it.  I would be delighted to produce a Cajame designer dog-coat for anyone who is interested.  The pattern (to fit a small dog) will be available in my Cajame shop on Folksy shortly.

You make me Blush

I'm not sure the colour suits you Phoebe! (note to self..... Do NOT leave make-up out anywhere) This dog has designer tastes - she couldn't have gone for the supermarket bargain brand, oh no!
