I'm Cornish This Way!

Just have to share this with you...... For what it's worth - we don't all wear shorts and flip-flops! Too darn cold...... though I've been known to carry on with the f-f's until November.

Photo-a-day Challenge - Day 12

Theme for today - Anything beginning with 'B' Introducing........ Bramble the Hedgehog Okay, okay..... I know! It's just that I took this photo last night and it's soooo cute. A considerable amount of effort was involved in taking this picture. Firstly containing the dogs who went berserk when they saw it. I don't suppose I blame them; doubt I'd be too happy if I tried to cock my leg on it either. So there I am, standing motionless for many minutes in the Cornish drizzle, with camera tensed ready for action (almost KungFu like standing on a plinth - only I wasn't standing on one and there's nothing remotely ninja about me). I thought about being clever and inventing a Latin sounding name that just so happened to begin with a B. However, after a half pint of cherry brandy jelly that's not going to happen anytime soon. So....... Bramble it is. I know it's his name, he told me. PS - do you like my bunny pic? This has been my RavingRabbit ...

A Jar full of Delights!

Just what is it about jars that makes them so darling? Let's face it.... they're pretty boring objects really.  A bit of moulded glass with a lid on top.  Yet - however boring they may be, dare I admit I have a bit of a jar fetish?  (to add to the ever growing lists of things I simply can't do without).  Perhaps I like them for their simplicity, their usefulness, their style.  Or maybe because so many can be collected by recycling them - hence qualifying as freebies! Cheap-skate - Moi?  I'm not the self-proclaimed Car-Boot sale Queen for nothing! There are so many different styles to choose from.  Plain ones, coloured ones, patterned ones.  My husband simply fails to grasp why I go into raptures when I see a pretty jar and feel unable to part with it.   Mason jars, Kilner jars, I love you all.  and yes.... even the humble ol' jam jar gets a big hug from me!  Even before we were encouraged to recycle nigh on everythi...

Where on Earth's my Needle?

Where on earth's my needle? ... I'm sure I put it there, glanced away for just a tick - It isn't anywhere! I've searched the sofa, searched the mat, it's driving me insane... I've even checked the bloody cat, in case she is too blame. There's always some diversion that stops me sewing thread, The phone, my job, the postman calls...daydream in my head. The dogs need walking, kids need food, husband's lost his keys, I do these things & want to scream "Let me do my sewing PLEASE! Inside my head's a catalogue - ideas not yet begun, Add to that the pile of WIPs all hoping to get done... Enough to keep me busy well into sometime next year. But which year? (I often ask myself, it is my private fear.) I am the Queen of putting off those things that must be done, So easily distracted, it's simply not much fun. I'm going to try so very hard .... Hey, Folksy - here I come... But first I need my needle - I've found it....

Cajame's Handy Sewing Tips - Chap. 1

 1.   To ensure productivity, take frequent short breaks from your sewing.       Utilize this time by trawling craft-related blogs and/or tweets.           (One hour plus is the suggested minimum) . 2.   Take great care to ensure you do not sew your make to yourself.      This is both highly irritating and extremely easy to do,       (and is a total and utter bastard when machining) .      3.   Ensure the whereabouts of your needle at all times.      (or your arse will find it for you) . 4.   Constantly scan your sewing location for predators.       Practice evacuation techniques*, in the event a dog/cat/toddler enters the 5      metre exclusion zone.      * remember....  holler, grab, run. 5.   When se...
