Winter Sun Makes - Part 2

Another day, another make! This time an upcycling project, combining the old (and worn out) and the old (vintage).  Could I get to sleep last night?  Could I heck.  By half twelve I'd given up trying, and went into my sewing room to mooch about.  I couldn't machine anything, or the noise would have woken up my husband in the next room.  So I was..... basically..... faffing about.  I started picking up bits of fabric with a thought of making something else to wear on holiday.  I really didn't have a clue at this point what to do; all I knew was; that either this piece was too short, that piece wasn't wide enough or the other piece was the wrong colouring for my skin tone. After discarding everything within the reach of my desk, I moved towards my cutting table.  You need strong nerves for this at the moment!  It's part-buried under a mound of previously hacked fabric, along with bits that I have rescued from a previous life. Beside the Seaside

"Oh we do like to be beside the seaside".... come on - sing up, I can't hear you! (Not much chance of being on the beach today - it's drizzle as usual in Cornwall this morning) A Cajame original. Today I'm sharing this fun wall-hanging with you.  It was a moving-in present for friends who had managed to find the most wonderful location to live - a stone-throw from mile-after-mile of fine golden sand, with glorious views of the sea.  (jealous.... moi?  Yes, I blooming well am). I was stuck for ideas for a present... I mean - just what do you get for a married couple who have everything?  Then, whilst twirling a piece of Tilda skin coloured fabric around in my hand - it came to me!  My friends love nothing better than to sunbathe naked.  Once this idea popped into my head, this was finished in no time.  Jazzy beach towels, even snazzier beach bag and a radio for passing countless hours tucked away in the sand-dunes.  The characters are ...

Vintage English Rose

A Cajame Original. (as modelled by Phoebe) Using two layers of vintage 100% wool Harris tweed, this darling little dog-coat has been decorated with pretty roses fussy-cut from (what was in a previous life) a pair of ancient curtains.  The roses have been layered and machine-appliqued.  With a frilly collar, the coat has been edged with a pale-pink rik-rak trim.  Fastening with velcro for easy wear (I know how hard it can be to grab hold of a squirming ready-to-go-out excited little dog), and trimmed with buttons... this is a unique designer coat for the fashion-conscious mutt-about-town. This coat was made to size for my little angel, and she adores wearing it.  I would be delighted to produce a Cajame designer dog-coat for anyone who is interested.  The pattern (to fit a small dog) will be available in my Cajame shop on Folksy shortly.
