The Early Bird

Good grief - What on earth is wrong with me this week?

I've been up at the crack of dawn every day.  This is so not me, I can't begin to tell you.  I'm such a night owl that I seldom go to bed before 1 or 2 in the morning. Combined with the early starts, it's doing nothing whatsoever for my beauty regime (ha! would help if I had one).  Perhaps the pasty, bagged eyed look will catch on one day.  I'm starting the trend.

I did manage to be a little productive yesterday.....

I completed my first ever stitched postcard for a swap.  It's been Mod Podged to within an inch of it's life and is off to Sweden later today.  I'm thinking I will pop it in an envelope first and include a few bits and pieces for my swap partner.  Quick to do, I'm rather pleased with how it's turned out.  Stuck onto a piece of frosted card, it looks most definitely postcardish.  May make a few up, to send to friends at random moments.

A quick blog for me this morning...... have to drop car into town for service, as soon as hubby arrives home from night shift.  It's pouring down outside, and blowing a gale to boot - I don't want to go!  Especially as it means catching the bus home.

Let's see if I can trawl the photo-banks for something cheery to end with - goodness knows it could do with brightening up today.....

Hi-ho, Hi-ho - it's off to search I go....

There we are - blue and white china - my favourite.  If that doesn't lift the spirits, I may as well go back to bed!

Have a good day folks - Hope the sunshine shines on you.  I'll keep the rain here!

  1. I can totally understand you. The only few reasons why I would wake up that early is me being totally sick, totally suffering from jetlag or earth is cracking open (not so sure about the last one though ;-)
    Cute postcard!!! Sleep well, Sana

Embroidery Inspiration

This is fabulous - found on Pinterest, but sadly it doesn't link back After doodling with thread last night, I'm thinking embroidery today.  I love embroidery, though I don't have much patience.  I really must start on a project.  Here's a few that have caught my eye....   These little brooches are darling.  Come across these from the LiliPopo blog.  Must explore what over little lovelies are there. Fabulous detail on the corner of this blanket, and relatively simple and quick to do.  Love it.  By Green Kitchen on Flickr. What a charming hoop picture.  Very modern.  From the Feeling Stitchy blog. Loving this little house by House Wren Studio   The roof is such a great way of showcasing different embroidery stitches. This beautiful butterfly.  Isn't it stunning?  It's from the  Crazy Quilting International blog, and I absolutely adore it.   I'll end today's post with on...

Shabby Chic? Definitely Shabby!

I did say I'd share my DIY disaster with you...... Brace yourselves - you may need sunglasses: Snort!  When I started the makeover I can assure you this wasn't my intention.  I had a 70's dressing table that was a nice shape, but a vile wood.  I thought I would transform it by painting it fuchsia to match my bedroom.  10 hours later (2 coats undercoat, 3 topcoat) it was looking good.  Until the top coat starting to flake off before my eyes.  I could have cried - indeed I think I did. Since then it's been sitting in the bedroom annoying me.  It's too heavy to lift out on my own, and anyways I've nothing else to replace it with.  The thought of starting to paint it again doesn't bear thinking about.  So in a DIY frenzy, I attacked it with wire wool. I think I got a bit carried away!  The result is something that gives a whole new meaning to shabby chic.  However, at least it looks intentional and boldly scruffy.  An...

Autumn Giveaway Time

I'm more than a trifle ticked off with Blogger. My post of yesterday has vanished into thin air during the day - and I haven't been near a computer. It was the first time I'd entered a post using the new interface, and I was liking the way it worked. Shame I didn't try a short post first, but no...... dibble decided to do a long article didn't she! Sniff. Back to the old Blogger me thinks. Anyways... I was thinking that it's been such a dismal few days - why not think of something to brighten the mood. Why not have a little giveaway? Trying to be a little different - I've come up with a little competition. It's quite simple....... How many buttons in the jar? I've no idea myself, so it will be interesting to find out. To give you something on which to base your guess, I can tell you I am able to hold the little jar comfortably in one hand. Also I have used a few of the buttons so the jar isn't quite full. So.... What do y...
