Crafty Inspiration

found here
Don't you just love this poster - it's so simple.  I want it printed on a bag!

Over the years I've tried all sorts of crafts.  I've had a long dalliance with watercolour painting, a brief sojourn with cross-stitch....and have finally found my niche with sewing.  However, I'm still coming across new things that I'd like to try.  Are you the same?

See if these give you any ideas........

Isn't this pretty!  I've long admired the wide array of scrap booking papers available, it's like looking through stacks of fabric samples.  Scrap booking has never appealed to me - but now.... here's a way to show off the gorgeous papers.  It looks mighty complicated to me, but the effect is brilliant.

These pretty tea-light lanterns look so effective painted, don't you think?  And how simple to do.

These wedding invitations are inspired!  Printed onto calico envelopes.  How great would it be to receive a letter like this through the post?

Gorgeous little apple lights.  How perfect for an evening barbecue to decorate the tables.

I'm loving this simple idea for a personalised gift - and how easy to make!

And I'm in total admiration and awe for this sewn tea-set.  I think it's fantastic, and on sourcing the original link I've found there's a tutorial for it.  Wonder what the fabric is?  It's gorgeous.
Finally - I added this believing it was handcrafted, but on researching the link I don't think it is. However....  it's got me thinking now.....   White fabric machined in red and blue to look like writing paper.  Mounted on a frame, with yellow fabric "post-its" with words of inspiration embroidered on.  What do you think?

Autumn Giveaway Time

I'm more than a trifle ticked off with Blogger. My post of yesterday has vanished into thin air during the day - and I haven't been near a computer. It was the first time I'd entered a post using the new interface, and I was liking the way it worked. Shame I didn't try a short post first, but no...... dibble decided to do a long article didn't she! Sniff. Back to the old Blogger me thinks. Anyways... I was thinking that it's been such a dismal few days - why not think of something to brighten the mood. Why not have a little giveaway? Trying to be a little different - I've come up with a little competition. It's quite simple....... How many buttons in the jar? I've no idea myself, so it will be interesting to find out. To give you something on which to base your guess, I can tell you I am able to hold the little jar comfortably in one hand. Also I have used a few of the buttons so the jar isn't quite full. So.... What do y...

Hillarys Blinds - Country Crafts Competition

A vision in Teal - front view Towards the end of February I saw a competition advertised on Twitter by Hillarys Blinds .  I can't remember the exact wording, but it was along the lines of "would you like to receive some material and enter our competition?" Of course I would! After sending an e-mail, I was delighted to hear I'd been chosen to take part.  I was able to pick from 3 fabrics.  I opted for the peacock print as I adore teal.  About a week later I received a packet from Hillarys containing a metre of my chosen material.  I wish I could get the colours to come out properly.  I don't think any of the photos I've taken do the fabric justice.  The background is a light cream, with the branches and blossom in subtle shades of brown and pale yellows.  Sitting on the branches across the fabric are a selection of beautiful peacocks.  In shades of teal, they are quite wonderful. Valentine Kisses

It's not long to February 14th now - so today I am sharing some vintage Valentine graphics.  As you know, as these are vintage artwork pieces, they may be freely used in whatever project takes your fancy.  If you feel inspired by any of these items, do pop over to the  Graphics Fairy  website.  Here you can find oodles more vintage loveliness.  Every day a new vintage piece is shared..... it really is a great blog to follow. Here's a few more of my Valentine favourites..... The three images above would be perfect printed onto stout card stock and threaded together to form a vintage banner.  How lovely to place in the window of a period property.  Or even better, printed onto fabric, and sewn onto a length of pretty lace.  Beautiful! Such a gorgeous little picture.  The original may be a lot larger, so it's worth checking with  Graphics Fairy  if you like this image.  There are so many items on th...
