A Cajame original.
The idea for this unique wall-hanging began with the buttons. I was rooting around in my Gran's old button tin, which after many years of use (by me, let alone my Mum and Gran) was looking a bit forlorn. There were only a few blue and green ones left, with the odd shirt button - still with bits of thread attached where they'd been cut off. Started thinking about water bubbles and the idea of the Koi Pool formed in my head.
The fabric for the fish came from a fat quarter of an Amy Butler fabric that I fell in love with. The entire picture has been machine appliqued and embroidered onto linen - I even managed to sew the buttons on by machine (only broke one in the process). The small coloured strip around the edge was blocked together using the tiniest scraps from my rag-bag. The wallhanging has been quilted with batting and backed in cotton with hanging loops attached.
I wish I'd taken more photos - but it sold so quickly, I didn't get the opportunity.
